Pray for Gwen Bryan

Please pray for Gwen Bryan, who is Cindy Neil’s sister-in-law.  Gwen was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer about 5 weeks ago and chose holistic care over chemotherapy.  She is now on around the clock oxygen and has to have a wheelchair to get around.  Also, she is in need of a lightweight transport wheelchair to borrow.  If you have a wheelchair that she can use, please call Cindy Neil at 865-661-1623.

Shoe Box Drop Off

if you are filling shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, remember that they have to be returned by this coming Sunday, November 15th.  Since we aren’t having in-person services this weekend, I will be at the church Sunday afternoon from 1-3 pm to receive shoe boxes.  The shopping cart will be outside the door on the educational side of the building and you can place your shoe boxes there.  If you are unable to come at this time, please contact me (Marilyn Gladden) at 865-414-2314 to arrange to meet for drop off.  Thank you for supporting this ministry.

Update 2 on Pastor Ben

Pastor Ben’s test was positive for COVID-19.  Please pray that the Lord would limit this disease and that he would have a quick and speedy recovery.  Pray also that his family will not get the illness.  Continue to pray for others who are affected by COVID-19 as well.  The CDC defines a close contact as someone who is within 6 feet of someone with COVID-19 for a total of 15 minutes within a 24 hour time frame, starting 48 hours before symptoms began.  Pastor Ben’s symptoms began Saturday evening.  If you were a close contact, please seek medical advice if you develop any symptoms.  Also, let Pastor Ben know so that appropriate decisions can be made regarding church services.  Pray for wisdom during this time.

It’s Shoebox Tiime!

it’s time to fill a shoe box or two for Operation Christmas Child!  What an awesome opportunity to provide gifts for a child that might not get a gift otherwise.  The best part is that they will also hear about Jesus when they receive their gift.  If you are attending services, you can pick up pre-printed boxes in the hallway.  If you aren’t ready to attend in person services, and would like pre-printed boxes and labels, contact Marilyn Gladden at 865-414-2314 and make arrangements to pick them up. We also have a limited supply of dresses made by our sewing ministry to be placed in the shoe boxes.  Filled shoe boxes should be returned to the church by November 15.    I’ve included a video for you.  I haven’t tried this before, so I hope that it works.  Click on the link to hopefully view.  operation-christmas-child-overview-2020-promo
Also, you can build your shoe boxes online at samaritanspurse.org by following the links to Operation Christmas Child.  Parents, there is also a new app for children from Samaritans Purse  called Greatest Journey.  it helps children explore the Bible.  Check it out!

Thank You for the Candy

A big thank you goes to all who donated candy for the Trunk or Treat!  Even though the Trunk or Treat was cancelled, your candy was put to good use as volunteers made treat bags for all the students at Lanier Elementary School and they were delivered this morning to the school.  Thank you also to those who organized, filled, and delivered the bags.  These bags will put a little sunshine and God’s love in the students day.  The Women on Mission are also making treat bags for the staff.
