Blessing Box Update 3

The Blessing Box has been an awesome addition to our outreach to the community and it is being used regularly.  Uncertain economic times bring increased need for the basic items of daily living for many people.  During the first and last weeks of the month the Blessing Box regularly needs to be filled twice daily.  Many of you have been adding items, and I want you to know that they are taken quickly. We have also had some cash donations to buy items.  If you would like to add some items to the Blessing Box, the most needed items right now are canned items that contain meat, small laundry detergent, dish detergent, soap, body wash, and deodorant.  Many of these items can be bought at the Dollar Tree or other stores at little expense.  If you bring items and the Blessing Box is full, there is a tote for overflow items in the drive thru at the sanctuary side of the building.  Most importantly, the New Testaments that we are placing in the Blessing Box are being taken, as well as pamphlets we have placed there on how to become a Christian.  Anyone can provide food to fill their tummies, but only the church can tell them about the Bread of Life, which is Jesus.  Please pray that as we provide physical nourishment, they would realize that it comes because God loves them.  Pray that many would be saved because of this ministry.   Thank you so much for your support and prayers.

Volunteers Needed

We have been asked to participate in a program through Second Harvest called “Food Fairies”, where food is provided to children from Lanier Elementary School who otherwise might not have enough food over the summer months.  There is no charge to the church for the food, although we have the option of providing some extras, such as fresh fruit, for a small charge.  Second Harvest will deliver the food to the church weekly, and we will pack, then deliver, the food.  We will need volunteers to pack the food weekly during the summer months, and also volunteers to deliver the food.  Right now we have 10 families in one trailer park to deliver food to, and there could be a few more families added in other areas.  If you are interested in helping in some way one or more weeks per month, and would like more information, please contact Marilyn Gladden at 865-414-2314 or marilyn.gladden1970@gmail.com.

Mother’s Day Offering

As we look forward to worshiping together tomorrow, whether in person tomorrow morning, or on Facebook Live, let’s not forget children who don’t have the privilege of a stable home environment.  Each Mother’s Day, we take a special offering for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes.  This offering supports children in residential care and a boy’s ranch, as well as those in foster care.  Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes has a contract with the state of Tennessee to place children in foster homes from our churches.  They receive no state funds for this service.  If you would like to give to this ministry and are attending the morning service tomorrow, you can pick up an envelope on the benches where the offering plates are placed.  You can also give on our website, or through the app.  Just choose the option of Mother’s Day Offering.  You can also mail a check to the church.  For more information about Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, follow the link above.
